Yes it does take a little while to drive over to the Panhandle, but there are many reasons to head on over there.

Events to take note of:

Winter

Pensacola Marathon- Held in February.

The St. Marks Wildlife & Outdoors Heritage Festival- usually held in February each year.

Spring

Interstate Mullet Toss in Perdido Key Beach- Do you really need an excuse to throw a mullet across the Florida State line into Alabama? Well here's your chance.

Summer

Fall

Destin Fishing Rodeo- Usually held in October and fun for everyone.

Destin Seafood Festival- Also held in October.

Florida Seafood Festival in Apalachicola- Held at the end of October this year.

 

Things to Do: 

Action On Blackwater Canoe Rentals & Campground- Located in Baker, FL.

Adventures Unlimited Outdoor Center- Stay in one of their cabins or bring your RV. Great place to start your canoeing, kayaking, or tubing trip. Located in Milton.

Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve- Located in Eastpoint. Visit the nature center filled with exhibits. 

Bass Pro Shops- Located in Destin. Yes it is worth the stop even if you been to others.

Blackwater Canoe Rental & Sales- Located in Milton.

Coconut Creek Family Fun Park- Located between Panama City Beach and Biltmore Beach with a huge miniature golf course and a big walk through maze.

Dolphin Cruise Southern Star Glass Bottom Boat- Located in Destin.

Gulf World Marine Park- Located in Panama City Beach. You can swim with dolphins and there are eight shows to check out while you are there.

Junior Museum- Located in Panama City. Lots for the kiddies to do.

Panhandle Pioneer Settlement- Located in Blountstown. 47 acres of Florida history.

Sam's Fun City- Located in Pensacola. Go Kart tracks and a bunch of amusement park style rides abound.

Sam's Surf City- Also located in Pensacola. Water slides, a lazy river, and a Kiddie area.

Chautauqua Vineyards & Winery- Located in Defuniak Springs.

Emerald Coast Wine Cellars- Located in Destin.

SeaBreeze Winery- Located in Panama City Beach.
