Surf Expo '11 hits Central Florida

Twice a year (every January and September) companies from across the globe make their way to the Sunshine State for the largest gathering of Surf, Skate, Wake, and Resort Wear industry owners/reps right outside our very own backyard.

The January 2011 Surf Expo held at the Orange County Convention Center is three days of sun in the Florida sun (well it is inside, so the only sun they're getting is on the hike through the ginormous parking lot outside the OCCC). Not not to the public, the Expo becomes a gathering place for many Brevardians as local companies show off their new products, local reps for national companies try to land new contracts, and of course there is always a large contingent of local amatuer and professional athletes that will be roaming the aisles and camping out at their sponsors' booths.

Some industry regulars at the Expo that have roots in Brevard include; Ocean Potion, Island Surfboards, Mar Chiquita, Jim Hannan Art, and Ocean Avenue Distribution.

There are also demonstrations, seminars, and the ever present Reef Girl's to keep everyone entertained each day.

This year there is an extra event during the Expo as Tony Hawk, Christian Hosoi, and a couple other skaters will take on a vert ramp for 'All 80's All Day' after the show closes at 6 p.m. on Friday, January 7th. This event is open to the public.
