Stars (and planets) get set to shine
The 8th annual Dark Sky Festival in Harmony offers something for just about everyone
By Ryan Seeloff
Every spring for the past seven years professional and amateur astronomers as well as families that enjoy being outdoors have converged on the tiny town of Harmony (you know the place. It's located just west of Holopaw on 192 and if you sneeze, you'll miss it) for the Dark Sky Festival.
This year should be the best yet as a pair of speakers from NASA will be taking the stage, there will be more for the kids to do than ever before, and three local astronomy clubs (Brevard Astronomical Society, Central Florida Astronomical Society, and the Melbourne Astronomical Society) will have a variety of powerful telescopes for visitors to peer through.
There will be a variety of food and beverage vendors making sure you don't stay hungry or thirsty, plus you can sit down at the Harmony Town Tavern for a full meal (there is usually a buffet that you can purchase tickets for).
Brevard's own Games2U truck will be there once again with literally a truckload of fun and games.
Be forewarned fellow jedi. The grasp of the mighty Empire reaches all the way to Central Florida. Be strong in the Force and you will prevail (don't ask, you'll see).
That is just a portion of what you will be able to experience at the Dark Sky Festival this year. Come on out and enjoy a very pleasant evening with your family and you'll probably end up seeing yourself on Destination Brevard next week!
