Spring typically is the start of the busy offshore fishing tournament season and we would like to let you know the dates of every upcoming fishing event in Brevard County.

Seminar Speakers
As part of the Coastal Angler Magazing Boating and Fishing Expo, there will be fishing seminars going on all day long. Below is the schedule.

May 7th- 96 Rock Saltwater Classic, he 96 Rock Charter Boat will depart at 8am to the left of Rusty's Seafood & Oyster Bar, so we suggest arriving at 7:30am to give preperation time. Please bring your Click n Print ticket with you to check in at the Captain's Party or Saturday morning at the docks. 96 Rock staff will be at the docks to check people in but we would recommend having some drinks with us at the Captain's Party Friday night! Beer and food are served on the boat, but you can bring a mini-cooler. It will return at approximately 2pm in time for everyone to weigh in their fish and join the official winners presentation at Rusty's.

May 7th- Youth Fly Fishing Clinic, Travis Park, Titusville

May 7th- 3rd Annual Space Coast Boating & Waterfest- The Palm Bay Utilities Department hosts WaterFest, a community-wide, family-oriented event each year to show appreciation for its customers and the City. This outreach event not only provides fun water recreational activities for children and their families, it also provides educational information to the citizens of the City of Palm Bay about water conservation, safety and quality. Residents from across the City have the opportunity to enjoy live entertainment, great food, educational booths, and exciting water rides and games. This year’s WaterFest will take place on Saturday, May 7th at Goode Park, 1300 Bianca Drive NE in Palm Bay.

May 13th-15th- Central Florida Shootout, Bluepoints Marina, Port Canaveral AND Sebastian Inlet Marina, Sebastian, with awards at Grills in Melbourne, $40 per angler,

May 14th- Kids Fishing Derby- The South Mainland Community Center along with the Grant-Valkaria Town Council will host the 4th Annual Free Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday, May 14 from 7 a.m. - 11 a.m. at Fisherman’s Landing. The park is located at 5795 U.S. Highway 1 in Grant-Valkaria. The fishing derby is for children ages 5-12 years old. Prizes will be awarded for the biggest fish, smallest fish and most fish caught. May 14th- CFFW 16th Annual Boat Poker Run, $25 per boat, starts at Kelly Park and ends at Grills Riverside,

May 19th-22nd- 2nd Annual "Bright House Space Coast Super Boat Grand Prix", This year’s Festival and Super Boat Race will continue to offer plenty of fun and excitement for the entire family – both on and off the water. A special welcome to all participating race teams, this year’s event will feature something for every race fan and motorsports enthusiast.

May 20th- Central Florida Offshore Anglers Tournament, Bluepoints Marina, Port Canaveral, $150 Entry, 5 Fish Categories, Ladies and JRs Divisions,

May 21st- Waterfest at Kiwanis Island Park,

May 21st- Hook Kids on Fishing, The Hook Kids on Fishing program is coming to Brevard County’s Kiwanis Island Park, on Merritt Island, Saturday, May 21, 2011, from 9-11am (kids and parents should show up by 8:45 am).

Kiwanis Island Park is located directly on Sykes Creek immediately north of State Road 520 (951 Kiwanis Island Park Road Merritt Island).

Kids 6 to 16 are welcome along with their parents. Titusville’s Ace Hardware has donated 200 rod & reel combos for the children participating so that the first 200 kids to register may get a free rod, reel and tackle box. Bring your smiles, positive attitudes and patience along with you!

There will be centers on casting, fishing techniques, habitat restoration, conservation, fishing safety, knot tying, catch and release tactics along with fishing with professional guides and knowledgeable anglers (at a location yet to be determine).
This program is being held in conjunction with the Third Annual Space Coast Boating & Waterfest, a family event celebrating the ecological and recreational opportunities associated with Brevard’s unique waterways. The event runs until 2:00pm. After fishing, come and enjoy all of the rest of the fun – boat rides, kayak tours, food, workshops, and educational and equipment displays by the United States Coast Guard, FWC and others. May 21st- Boating Safety Program,

May 25th- Surf Fishing 101- 12-17 yr $25 /adults $35 Attendees ages 12 yrs-older will learn how to choose a rod, reel, line and tackle. Capt. Rodney and John Detmer will talk about baits, rigs, ocean and optimal weather conditions. A Sea Striker tackle package will be given to attendees. June 4th- 6th Annual Kid's Cancer Benefit River Jam- Join us June 4th for a fun day at Squid Lips on the beautiful Indian River in Melbourne. The Fundraiser will feature a silent auction, and a land poker run for motorcyclists and a high seas poker run for boaters and jet-skiers. The motorcycle poker urn starts with kickstands up at 10am. The high seas poker run shoves off from the beach with flexible staring times between 10am and noon, captain's choice. SQUID LIPS will be the starting and end point for both runs. Hang out, eat lunch and help families with kids that have cancer. All bikers and watercraft are welcome as is the general public.
