People like Connie Chiles-Cooke, Sherry Palmer, Lisa Crites and Dottie Gatti know a bit about the joy of life, being survivors of breast cancer. They also know a bit about the non-profit organizations that really do help their fellow patients.

One of them is Breast Friends, a national organization whose local chapter Chiles-Cooke and Palmer started last summer, and the organization will have its first “Joy of Life” golf tournament co-hosted by Infiniti of Melbourne at 11:30 a.m. June 12 at Suntree Country Club.

"We are extremely excited about our first annual 'Joy of Life' golf tournament," said Chiles-Cooke, who is co-director of Breast Friends of Florida.  "We have had tremendous support from the community and expect it to be a great success."

"Our goal with Breast Friends is to offer support and resources to both cancer patients and their family members.  Philanthropic events such as this will allow our organization to continue to provide the much needed support for patients and families during one of the most difficult times of their lives.”

The four-player scramble event, which will begin with lunch, will have a shotgun start at 1 p.m. and conclude with dinner and post-tournament events. “Longest drive” and “closest-to-pin” prizes will be awarded to men and women, mulligans will be available and a 50/50 drawing will take place.
