Grinding it out all the way to the Lonestar State

Big congrats go out to Brevard's own local skateboard team (Graffiti Skate Zone team) for participating in the last weekends “Volcom Wild in the Parks” international skateboard series competition.

Wild in the Parks (witp) is a FREE international skate contest series hosted by Volcom clothing where amateur skaters of all ages can compete in an open skate jam format of a contest. Along with great prizes for the top 5 in each age category, the top seven highest competitors qualify for a huge finals event in Austin Texas where all the top seven winners from around the world will again showcase their skills to try and win even bigger prizes along with loads of cash and the recognition they will need to advance their skateboarding talent into the possible higher ranks of sponsorships.

Graffiti Skate Zone is proud to announce 5 out of 12 of our own local team skaters that entered the event qualified and are advancing into the finals of witp out in Austin Texas. Placing 1st in the sponsored /open division and winning some cash as well was GSZ team rider:

Kyle Chambers, 21 of Palm Bay. Along with Kyle the others placing are as follows:
Dakota Hunt - 14 of Palm Bay - 3rd in the 14& under division
Chris Roque - 13 of Palm Bay - 6th in the 14 & under division
Ryan Hodges - 13 of Palm Bay - 7th in the 14 & under division
Ish Cepeda - 16 of Palm Bay - 5th in the 15 & up division

Along with the skaters who made the finals were many other GSZ team riders who also tried making the finals and placed very close to the top of their divisions but just missed out on making the final seven.

Over the next few weeks these qualified GSZ team riders will be practicing at their local skate park Graffiti Skate Zone and creating fundraisers to help cover the costs of their travel and expenses out to Texas on Oct 15.
